North Carolina Immigration Attorney

As a foreign national hoping to immigrate to the United States to work, the process of obtaining a work visa can seem daunting. The process can indeed become overwhelming without proper advice and guidance, which is why you should speak with a North Carolina immigration lawyer as soon as possible. Only then can you be certain of applying correctly and in a timely manner that provides you with the highest chance of success.

Laws & Regulations for Immigrant Workers

In order to obtain employment-based entry into the United States, you must first be sponsored by a U.S. employer. To obtain such sponsorship, you must find an employer in the U.S. who will then file an I-140, Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker on your behalf. Once the application is approved, you may immigrate to the United States to begin your employment.

Keep in mind that all immigrant employees must also provide evidence of their authorization to work in the United States. Before you can begin working, you must apply for and receive an employment authorization document (EAD) and provide a copy to your employer for verification. Once you've completed your section of the Form I-9 and have provided all necessary documentation and evidence of employment authorization, you may begin working in the U.S. as a non-immigrant worker or a lawful permanent resident (green card holder).
